Established in 1925 (AD) the Mahauddharan Math is situated in Manicktala which is one of the busiest areas of Kolkata. The original building belonged to Suratkumari Devi who was a follower of Prabhu Jagatbandhu. Prabhu had once visited this place and stayed there for almost an hour. After Sri Angan of Faridpur this is the oldest branch of the Mahanam Sampradaya. This is the registered office of the Mahanam Sampradaya. Dr. Mahanambrata Brahmachari studied at Calcutta University staying at this place. After returning from USA whenever he was in Kolkata Dr. Mahanambrata Brahmachari used to live in Mahauddharan Math and most of his books were written during his stay at this ashram. However, towards the later stage of his life he shifted to Mahanam Angan, Raghunathpur as activities around him gained such a momentum that he required more organised and bigger space.
There is a charitable dispensary inside the Mahauddharan Math. It also hosts accommodation for poor students. “Jal Chhatra” (free distribution of drinking water) is also a major activity of the Mahauddharan Math.
At present regular rituals and services at the temple are being carried out by :
