Ghogomali, later known as Ghughumali, was a place adjacent to the forest zone of Baikunthapur, at the outskirts of Siliguri, in the district of Jalpaiguri. Under the custody of Kalikanta Roy, this area initially being dedicated to the name of Gods, later on was included in the state governments property after the abolution of zamindari system.

After the partition of Bengal, a lot of people from the other side of the border, came over here and settled down. Kalikanta Roy, along with Jogendra Roy and others, established Sri Radha Madhab Mandir here. At that time, every year ‘Janmastami and Raas Leela’, used to be celebrated there.

At a later date, on the arrival of Acharya Dr. Mahanambrata Brahmachari at Siliguri, both Kalikanta Roy and Jogendra Nath Roy, requested him to take the custody of this temple. On assuming the charge of this temple by Sri Mahanambrataji, this temple was renamed as “Sri Sri Radha Madhab Prabhu Jagat Bandhu Ashram”, Siliguri; and Mahanam Sampraday took the control of its administration. Probably, it was during the 1960’s, when regular services at the temple, were being carried out at the thatched house temple, having bamboo fencing. At that time some faithful disciples of Sri Mahanambrataji, like late Subir Dutta, Late Prafulla Saha, Late Upen Bhowmik and Late Manindra Nath Sarkar, along with a few devotees; used to conduct the various activities of the temple. Sri Gurudev Dr. Mahanambrataji, had sent Brahmachari Sevananda Das from Bangladesh for the routine services to the deities.

In 1976, Prabhu’s idol was shifted from thatched- house to the new temple complex. Since then, Mihir Pal Chowdhury, Satosh Dutta etc and some elite devotees continued to hold the responsibility of conducting various activities of the temple. After a few days, under the guidance of Sri Narayan Ray Karmakar, lot of re-construction and renovation work for the temple was taken up. At a later stage, by Sri Gurudev Dr. Mahanamabrtaji’s instruction permanent boundary wall was constructed. Sri Gurudev resided here in 1991 ; and during that time a few devotees requested him to construct a marble stone temple here and he gave his consent. In 1992, below mentioned committee was constituted with the blessings of Sri Gurudev for construction of temple and monitory help was obtained from devotees of North Bengal.
