Mahanam Sevak Sangha was registered on 1976 with the main object of serving humanity as a whole both through social works and spiritual upliftment under the guidance of renowned saint-philosopher, Dr.Mahanamabrata Brahmachari, M.A. (Sanskrit & Philosophy), Phd (Chicago). Mahanambrataji’s heart was full of pathos for the sufferings of others and following his teaching on Service to humanity, the activities are not confined to spiritual levels only, but within the limited resources trying our best also to become an active social organisation for helping the poor, down trodden and suffering section of the society irrespective of caste, creed and religion.
Since the year 1981, a charitable dispensary named ‘Sri Sri Prabhu Jagatbandhu Sevangan” staffed with qualified, reputed and specialist medical practitioners and some Homeopathic Practitioners delivering free specialized treatment with medicines, was started at our premises and till date this dispensary is functioning with full vigor and popularity. Only Rs. 1/- is taken as registration fee from the patients. Consultation and medication are provided totally free. Even the specialized medicines are provided. Every day, a good number of destitutes get homeopathy and allopathic treatment and are provided with medicines too. Mostly Patients from backward and minority communities are getting treated. In the year 2008, about 5000 patients registered. This year, more patients are expected. Doctors of following specialization are presently attending the patients:
However due to shortage of fund we are unable to render services to our best quality and expectation. We also have plans not only for consolidation and expansion of our current activities but also to venture into newer fields, which requires generous support and donation from all sectors. A few initial projects, which we want to take up immediately as a part of our plan, are given below.
Description:
We are also providing ambulance services to ailing persons
Free Medical camps at Ganga-Sagar Mela -
Every year thousands of pilgrims assemble at the confluence of Ganges in the Bay of Bengal in the month of January for a holy dip. We provide Shelters, Free-Medical Facilities, Ambulance Services during the full tenure of this pilgrimage.
Every year, during the winter months we distribute blankets and woolen garments to the poor people. Even at night time we physically search among the foot-path dwellers and donate these items to the needy persons. Such activities are also carried out at remote villages.
During natural calamities we distribute free food, medicines, clothes etc to the people suffering from natural calamities at various parts of the country. Shelter is also provided to flood effected people at Nabadwip Mahanam math. We contributed for the welfare of the families of the soldiers who laid down their lives to defend our country against foreign invasions.
Every day free mid-day meal is served at Mahanam Angan to some needy persons.
Many people from far off places arrive at Calcutta for medical treatment, educational facilities, and other sundry errands and their only address is ‘Sri Sri Mahanam Angan’.
We provide free accommodations and assistance to poor pilgrims, travelers and monks at our various centres.
Many orphan men and women have been provided peaceful shelters in our different ashrams. On the Educational front, we operate two schools; one at Mahanambrata Mission at Nagar Okhra, in North-24-Parganas, and the other at Sri Sri Jagatbandhu Vidyamandir at Mahanam Math at Nabadwip which was founded by Mahanambrataji himself.
Poor and meritorious students are provided books and monetary help.
In this way, for almost more than 24 years, such activities of rendering services to the society are going on in the same regulated and rhythmic style. Recognizing our contribution to the service of mankind Govt. of India under section 80G of the Income Tax Act has exempted contributions to our organisation from Income Tax and Govt. has also granted us permission to accept foreign contribution under the Foreign Contribution (Regulation) Act, 1976.
